Operations Support – Launch Vehicle Programs (Part-Time)

Mclaurin Aerospace is seeking a qualified US citizen to fill a part-time term position supporting administrative tasks, project/resource management, and technical documentation for both internal research initiatives and external programs. The ideal candidate has exceptional organizational and writing skills, with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Microsoft Office products (especially Excel)
  • Project and resource management
  • Writing / editing
  • Document management / document databases
  • Software process control
  • Graphic design and layout

In addition, candidates with aerospace industry experience or knowledge of federal contracts and subcontracts are highly desirable.

This position is a term appointment lasting until December 2022 with an option to renew depending on project needs and available funding.


Responsibilities include developing and managing technical resource allocations across one or more research programs and assisting with day-to-day operational needs.  Candidates may help organize and catalog technical documentation, develop briefing materials, manage schedules, milestones, and task deliverables, and assist in verifying quality standards for technical products for a variety of contract activities.


Minimum typical requirements are a BS or equivalent degree in a related discipline such as business, information systems, science, or mathematics.  Current graduate students pursuing a degree-granting program are also encouraged to apply.

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.


This position is located at the Mclaurin Aerospace research facility in downtown Knoxville, TN.

This position is part time and requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours but not more than 80 hours per month, with an expected workload of about 2 days per week.

Normal workday is from 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
