We have an exciting opportunity for a Spacecraft Rendezvous and Proximity Operations GN&C Simulation Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at Johnson Space Center.

This position will work on the JETS Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Capture (RPOC) team developing on orbit Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) simulations in support of Commercial Visiting Vehicle missions to the International Space Station (ISS).

Responsibilities
  • Provide math modeling, simulation development, integration, and testing of commercial visiting vehicle GN&C systems using an established software process.
  • Create and deliver math model and simulation documentation.
  • Identify team simulation tasks, resolve simulation issues, and assist team members.
  • Directly interact with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors during technical meetings and working groups.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking.
  • Experience with orbital mechanics.
  • Experience with Git/GitLab.
  • Experience with dynamic simulator development for building flight simulators (e.g., Unreal game engine or similar resources).
  • Experience with simulation visualization and graphics packages, particularly JSC EDGE or DOUG.
  • Experience with JSC TRICK Simulation Environment.
  • Experience with JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics) modeling package.
  • Experience with LaTeX.
  • Experience in product delivery and management utilizing source code management tools.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • NASA flight operations and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Experience with Linux, C/C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience with version control systems.
  • Experience with GN&C principles.
  • Experience developing, verifying, and validating math models and simulations
