Mclaurin Aerospace is currently seeking exceptionally qualified candidates to fill Technical Staff vacancies in the area of space and launch vehicle systems guidance, navigation, and control. Mclaurin Aerospace Technical Staff provide critical expertise to government sponsors supporting programs of national significance. Current needs include:

  • Spacecraft and launch vehicle flight dynamics and control
  • Flight control actuation systems (EMA & hydraulic)
  • Space navigation and linear covariance analysis
  • GPS/INS filter design, optimal sensor fusion, visual odometry, and hazard avoidance
  • Astrodynamics
  • Space vehicle or air vehicle dynamics
  • Modeling and simulation (particularly multibody and/or flexible systems)
  • Navigation sensors and navigation hardware integration
  • Development of high-reliability embedded software (MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++)
Responsibilities

GN&C Technical Staff provide industry-leading technical expertise to government and prime contractor sponsors, and perform simulations, analyses, and designs, often working with representatives of multiple disciplines to optimize GN&C integration across diverse elements and vehicles while supporting an integrated program and/or mission goal.

Qualifications

A minimum of an MS or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Typical requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. or an MS with 2 or more years of relevant experience. Academic research and teaching experience may be considered in lieu of industry experience. Candidates having the equivalent of a Ph.D. and greater than ten years of relevant experience may qualify as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and will be given special consideration.

Proof of U.S. citizenship is required and candidates will be subject to a background check and security screening.

Requirements

Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the customer and other participants through regular engagement in task team meetings, technical interchange meetings, and program reviews. Experience with Microsoft Office products is also required. Candidates with supporting experience in control-structure interaction, finite element modeling, trajectory analysis, launch vehicles, orbital rendezvous, mission design, or crewed spacecraft operations are highly desirable.

Mclaurin Aerospace Technical Staff are discipline leaders, serving as ambassadors of a well-respected engineering organization and leveraging their research and academic backgrounds to develop original solutions to the most difficult of engineering challenges in space exploration. Technical Staff interface directly with government and industry partners on issues of critical importance, developing analyses, reports, and briefings, and may regularly make recommendations to program leadership. Ideal candidates have a demonstrated track record of successful innovation and are comfortable in the autonomous management of complex tasks.
